PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

The quality of a portrait always depends greatly on the quality of the photgraphs people give me to work from. Beccause of that, here are some tips to help you along in taking the most suitable photographs.
If it is nog possible for you to take your own pictures (person of animal is deceased for example), just send me the pictures you have so Ican decide if they ar suitable.

1. Lighting:

Daylight is best, although you should avoid direct sunlight because the shadows can become too dark and the colors can be affected.
Make sure the light comes from behind the photographer. (No backlight)
If it is not possible to take a photo outside, then it is best to take the picture next to a north-facing window.
Don't use flash.
If you need extra light, try to create it with lamps.
Morning light on a bright cloudy day is best.

2. Positioning:

Make certain the photographer is at eye level with the subject. A photo taken from above or below gives a distorted image.
It is best to take several pictures over the course of a couple of days. That way the photos will be more spontaneous and exciting and it will give more options to choose from.

3. Composition:

For a portrait pose, it is best if the subject turns their head a little and does not face the camera straight on. (Of course, the eyes can still look at the camera.)
Try to have the person/animal pose in a way that is natural for him/her.
Be sure that the person/animal (not the bachground) is the biggest part of the picture.

4. Sharpness:

To allow me to "zoom in' on the photo, it has to be of adequate quality (sharpness/resolution). Preferred size is 960 x 12800 pixels minimunm.
